Jean was up late last night making cheesecakes to take to Matt's for thanksgiving dinner.
This has been a good year. Health, job, wellbeing have all been good and the news has shown us so many reflections of just how lucky we are.
I am so very thankful.
The New York Times has an article on what "brain scientists" are discovering about the reality of hypnosis and what it is telling them about how we process information. This was the subject of my project for my masters degree. It is fascinating stuff and fun to watch the "brain scientists" validating that which they had dismissed for decades as poppycock.
Doc Searls wrote an interesting article in Linux Journal about where the phone companies want to take the net and how they want to charge for access. (If you have used internet services on your cell phone and paid the attendant charges you have glimpsed their vision of the future.) It is a long read, but worth the effort.
An interesting note, after this article was posted, Linux Journal suffered a denial of service attack which made it inaccessable for a day or so, though it is back up now.

A highlight of the birthday trip was this gift from our dear friend Sandrea. The wand stands a foot tall and has the subltlest hues. Jean was thrilled.

Kirk was born in the Year of the Dragon. Our first attempt at decoupage was to take a dragon image and add it to a craft frame for his picture. This is the result of our efforts.

We got to visit Joan's beautiful new home for Jean's birthday. We also got to visit with Jim Mathis who caught us up on he and Sandrea. Sandrea sent Jean a beautiful Lemurian wand and a lovely collection of african violet cuttings.
As more and more work-related stress falls from my shoulders I am catching up on a few minor projects but mostly vegging out, enjoying my time with Jean.
Jean had some adjustments in the feng shui of the house that involved re-hanging some pictures and such. She is undertaking a major adjustment of our energy environment.
I have been catching up on my blog reading. Seeing all the new gadgets that are out there. Just delightfully low key and laid back. I have some activities planned for later in the week but for right now it's just deep relaxation.
For those of you who remember self-winding watches: my father once acheived his vacation zenith when his self-winding watch ran down.
Just finished watching Grey's Anatomy. We haven't been hooked on a network tv show since the early seasons of Northern Exposure but this one is that good and that delightful.
I woke up this morning to the glorious knowedge that I am on vacation all next week. I can already feel the relaxation growing.
Lifehacker, my favorite hints, shortcuts and "life hacks" site has this link to a way to remove candle wax from carpet. This is great news for the romantically or metaphysically inclined as well as those who burn their candle at both ends.
An elderly lady was distressed when she suddenly found herself passing gas with alarming frequency. She made an appointment with her doctor and he was surprised with how rapidly she hurried from the waiting room to his office.
She said, "It is simply humiliating. I am passing gas every minute or so. It happened over 30 times in that crowded waiting room and I have done it several times since coming into your office. I was raised that a lady simply doesn't do such things. My only salvation has been that the episodes have been silent and odorless."
The doctor was sympathetic but efficient. He examined her thoroughly and sent her home with a prescrition. "Take these pills with your meals and come back in a week."
The following week she returned in even more distress. "Doctor, what was in those pills you gave me? The gas is just as frequent as before, but on the second day of the pills, my gas started to smell. It has grown worse every day and now it is simply overpowering. I could only stand it because fortunately they are still silent and people could not tell these frightful smells came from me."
The doctor replied, "The pills have cured your sinus infection. Today we are going to fit you for a hearing aid."
