We were out garage saling Saturday and came accross this garden front yard on W south of 19th in Lubbock.

Yes, Tuesday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Tis sad how truly few celebrate the high holidays.

One of the things we loved about our new house was the lamppost in the front yard. While on a walk the other night I snapped a photo of how much light it throws.

It was breezy this weekend in Lubbock. Jean has been racing the squirrels to see who can recover the most fallen pecans. She also picked up a few pears.

Today we went to the Windpower Museum. Jean has been wanting to go for some time and today we finally got around to it. This is the largest wind generator located within city limits.
Most of the museum is about windmills which were used to raise underground water. One fascinating fact the museum guide told us of is that the early steam locomotives required 2,000 gallons of water to go 20 miles, so in building the railroads, teams went ahead digging wells and putting up windmills and the water towers that we see in the old westerns. I had never thought of the need for the windmills to bring up all that water.
