Recovery Roadtrip
After a week of grief and taking care of the details of Jean's passing, Kirk and I got out of town. We went to Carlsbad Caverns. (Click the links for photos.) We donned caving helmets and took the guided tour of the lower cavern. We walked. We descended. We climbed. We crawled. It was exhilarating and I recommend it highly. Friday night we had dinner with my nephew Kelly, who was in Carlsbad on business.
Saturday morning we headed for White Sands. We drove through Cloudcroft, an alpine village at 8600 feet. It was 24 degrees, snowing and beautiful. By the time we descended back to the desert floor at White Sands, it was 70 degrees and we climbed and saucered down the dunes. On the way back through Ruidosa, Kirk noticed the Batmobile parked by the side of the road and we stopped for some pictures.
We arrived home Saturday night, tired but better for the trip.
